Daniel Ferreira
Daniel Ferrreira Sousa Lourenço (1998) started his musical studies at the age of 12 at Academia de Música Costa Cabral in the saxophone class of Marcelo Marques. Daniel was awarded in many competitions such as: Concurso Terras de La Salette (Portugal) : 2013, 3rd prize Juvenil Category; 2014, 1st prize Juvenil Category; 2015, 1st prize Junior Category; 2016, 2nd prize Senior Category. Saxoporto Competition (Portugal): 2013, 2nd prize C Category; 2015 1st prize A Category; Vitor Santos Competition (Portugal) : 2014, 1st prize C Category; 2016, 1st prize in B Category.
Over these years, Daniel worked with several saxophonists, standing out: Claude Delangle, Cristophe Grèzes, Fernando Ramos, Ottis Murphy, Philippe Geiss, Lars Niederstrasser, Mario Marzi, Juani Palop, Timothy McAllister, among many others.
In orchestra he worked with José Eduardo Gomes, Luís Carvalhoso, Luís Carvalho, Paulo Martins, Francisco Ferreira, Pedro Neves e José Rafael Pascual Vilaplana, Alex Schillings, among others.
Daniel already had the privilege to play solo at FEUP’s auditorium and at Casa da Música, Sala Suggia, Oporto, Portugal.
Daniel is one of the foundours of MAAT Saxophone Quartet and with them he won the prestigious 1st award on Prémio Jovens Músicos (Portugal) and the 1st prize in the National Chamber Music Competition (Vila Verde, Portugal). In 2018 the group was selected for the “RaboNEXTStage” program, in a partnership with the Rabo Bank and TivoliVredenburg Utrecht, having the possibility to perform in 2019 at TivoliVredenburg and also to work with renowned string quartets Dudok Kwartet and Quatuor Danel. With the MAAT Saxophone Quartet, Daniel does concerts in one of the most prestigious halls in all the Netherlands and Portugal. Currently Daniel is doing his bachelor at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Arno Bornkamp and Willem Merwijk.
Daniel treedt op zondag 27 oktober 2019 met MAAT Saxophone Quartet op in de kerk van Mook.
